off the grid in San Francisco
We spent a beautiful Sunday in San Francisco at the Presidio off the grid picnic in the park party. Two of our daughters live in the city and are both foodies so it was a perfect gathering spot for friends and family to meet. It was also fleet week so the park was filled with the sights and sounds of this unique city and the sky was filled with an air show featuring the Blue Angels and other aerial acrobats buzzing us from above. The fog stayed just off the Golden Gate so the sky was blue the air was cool and the many conversations were fun and interesting.
We are up in the city often for wonderful and interesting dining and great food and this event was an inspiration overload. Off the grid is a party on the grass in the Presidio where the hottest food trucks line one side of the park and the best new restaurants line the other so you have a chance to sample some really good international flavors. This goes on every Sunday thru November and has a great family friendly atmosphere.
They had a lineup of trucks that would satisfy every food adventurer. Benedict Arnolds brunch truck, Slightly Skewed, a falafel truck a Vietnamese street food truck and many others. They even had a wood fired pizza truck Del Popolo turning out the best Tuscan style flatbread pizzas you will taste anywhere. We had their pepperoni and burrata pizza. They are opening a Nob Hill step up place next year sometime in addition to their popular mobile pizzeria. Another of our favorites was the Cochon Volant BBQ truck that had a spicy fun bbq pork parfait in a mason jar. Seed and Salt a vegetarian restaurant from the Marina district was serving chickpea frittata sliders and beet burger and smashed avocado sliders that were an awesome combination of flavors. The tents had Nosh This Desserts, The Crème Brulee Cart and many more for that sweet finish. All in all a perfect way to spend a Sunday in October.
