Our trip to Saluti Vineyard in Somerset California
Our trip to Saluti Vineyard in Somerset California
If a picnic had any rules it would be to relax and enjoy
nature with delicious easy to eat finger foods. I can’t
think of a more calm tranquil place to enjoy a picnic
than the mediterranean style vineyards of Saluti.
Their wine estate is nestled in the hills of Somerset
California in the wine region of Fairplay located about
50 miles south of Lake Tahoe. It is at around 3500ft
elevation with beautiful madrone, redwoods, a small lake,
wine caves, a wedding barn and intimate cottage suites. It
is really an idyllic serene retreat from the valley. If you want to
get up in elevation and out of the valley this is a little slice of heaven.
Spent the early morning sourcing the foods needed
for the Greek Summer Feast we were planning. Now it
was time to fire up the ovens and start cooking. Our menu…
Pork and Turkey Keftedes meatballs, Deliciously Fresh Greek Salad,
Crispy Parmesan-Lemon Potato, Greek Shrimp Saganaki with Feta,
Peach Galette, Fresh Market Plums and Pluots and Saluti Wines.
Greek Baked Prawns with Feta, Tomato and Oregano
Beautiful Greek Salad and Greek Meatballs made with
Turkey, Pork Preserved Lemons then pan seared in olive
oil in our Staub cast iron skillet
Peach Galettes
Parmesan Crusted Potato with Preserved Lemon
Not only do they have hundreds of acres of award
winning wine grapes they also have areas on their estate
devoted to organic vegetable gardens and raising
grass fed beef, lamb and chickens. They are truly
living a farm to fork lifestyle.
